...and I told her if she does that I'd like an opportunity to buy/take her current car. That current car is some form of Subaru Forester. I think it's a 2002? No clue
Looks like this one. It's an automatic and pretty bare bones, and it has a pretty bad dent on the liftgate (she was rear ended...Florida)
But all that aside, it's an AWD wagon with an absurd amount of space and less than 50,000 miles on the clock. I can't complain, and I'm sure she'd give it to me for a good price or no price at all.
Why is that a big deal? Well, even though I love my Sonic this would give me a great opportunity to sell it, get out from underwater, and start making payments to a Corvette instead! The Forester has more space than I'll ever need and with AWD on a set of winter tires it would handle Kansas winter like a bawse.
I don't know what the time frame for her getting a new car is, so no idea when this would happen, but I'm bored and thought I'd share

An old lady driven car (regardless of the spec) is always a good bet.

A good daily/towing car for your newly stripped and caged Sonic.

good idea...but uhh....if your just going to be getting out from underwater, you should maybe wait a bit before getting another car.

Do it. I got a car from my grandma once and it was better taken care of than I could ever even imagine.

I probably would. The biggest problem is I didn't put enough down. I'll have more money this time, so I won't be in as stupid of a spot

Eh. I like the sonic, but I'd much rather sell it and get a V8 sports car than sink a bunch of money turning it into a racecar.

I keep on pushing him to make it like the one off Transformers. It's the natural fate for his Sonic

The only thing I recall about these, I believe, is a head gasket issue, but it might not be this engine. In other words, talking out my ass again.

Sell both cars and get C6 Z06.

Clearly this is the only way.

You say you'll part ways with the Sonic but I don't see it happening.

Eh, you aren't making payments. I love the car, I'll be sad to see it go, but with a potential MR (the proper mind) replacement, it's days will be numbered

I need some modicum of practicality

Corvettes are easily daily-able.

Buy it. My family had one up until early last year when my brother totaled it. It was the car I learned to drive on and it was super reliable even though we put over 100,000 miles on it. I can't say enough good things about the forester. My mom actually wants to buy another one if she finds one, even though we have no need for another car right now

Wait, there's a MR Sonic in the works?

Why not try refinancing?

Corvettes are MR

In winter it's pushing it and I occasionally need to carry long items.
I will daily the Corvette as much as possible but it'd be tough to make it my only car

Won't make much of a difference, I have a low interest rate already

Great idea to me. Subaru's are a lot of fun on snow and dirt, manual or slushbox. I've been trying to get back into one for the winter.
I say go for it. The turbo-manual versions even autocross pretty well.

The Subaru part is definitely happening if the opportunity presents itself. The Sell the Sonic part maybe not.

Good to hear you're joining the proper MR club. MR2? Ferrari? NSX? Lambo? Boxster? Cayman?

Either way, Subaru's are great cars. Just make it a beater/daily and keep miles off the Sonic. You'll have to find some dirt roads for it.
You'll also have to buy Hella Horns. It's protocol.

Get a roof rack! That'd be awesome.

No, proper. A V8 tucked behind the front wheels

I'll pick some up on the drive home from Florida

Fragile items.Need cover
RC airplanes, though I'm considering downsizing to a small airplane only fleet. I like my big ones, but I've become far more interested in autocross than RC

Did you see my AutoX post!?!

I saw it, but I haven't watched the video. In the midst of flying home from Florida

Well tell the co-pilot to take over for like 4 minutes. You have more important things to attend to.
